“To educate and provide support for abused women and children; to foster programs that will improve the socioeconomic status of women and children, who have been historically identified as disadvantaged citizens; to encourage and develop personal and moral values; to promote self-esteem, character building qualities, hope, help and love to all people that are deemed to be less fortunate individuals; to work alongside the public and private sectors to encourage charter building for our communities in academia and physical fitness.”
Women Called Moses Coalition and Outreach, Inc. is a non-profit organization primarily created to provide a secure shelter for battered women and their children. Our organization is committed to increase awareness about the growing problem of domestic violence in the Dallas/Ft Worth Metroplex. Our energy is directed toward fostering support services for these innocent victims of spousal and child abuse. Women Called Moses, Inc. will provide shelter, educational and job skill training at no cost to the families, for we believe that having stability and access to life’s basic necessities will improve their self-esteem and help move them along the road to independence.
Presently, we are planning our first facility of approximately 10,000 to 12,000 square feet to house ten families. Unlike most shelters, our residence will encourage a self-sufficient lifestyle utilizing individual apartments rather than the more typical dormitory setting. In addition to the no cost housing, we will feed and train individuals in this secure environment. The shelter strongly promotes independence, empowerment, and encourages women to continue with their jobs or schooling. While in residence, clients benefit from both individual and group counseling sessions, workshops on financial planning, pre-employment training, communication skills, and parenting skills.
Another goal of Women Called Moses, Inc. is to develop new programs in crisis intervention and provide assistance with existing programs within the region. We will accomplish this by offering psychotherapy and support groups in English and Spanish through registered clinical trainees, associates, and interns working under the supervision of licensed therapists.
All activities and services will be donated by a volunteer staff. These services are designed to help women and children address the long-term effects of domestic abuse, such as post-traumatic stress, anger, and depression. We will have a sufficient number of counselors, teachers, and mentors on staff for each abuse victim. Women Called Moses, Inc. desires for each victim to feel as if they have their very own personal life coach helping and guiding them down the road to success. Our professional staff will act collectively as a support team helping the abuse victims to become contributing members of society and their community. It is truly our desire that after completing the assistance program provided through Women Called Moses, Inc., these women will become self-sufficient, regular taxpayers, and be able to provide for the
